Call for Papers

Danish Yearbook of Philosophy invites submissions to a special issue following the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Danish Philosophical Society. The theme explores how philosophy can illuminate the shifting boundaries of human understanding, meaning, and existence in times of ecological, technological, and existential transformation.

We welcome papers addressing the philosophical task of thinking horizons — futures not yet realized, possibilities foreclosed or opening, and the reimagining of horizontality itself. Submissions that engage with phenomenology, philosophical anthropology, world philosophy, ethics, philosophy of technology, environmental philosophy, and philosophy of education are encouraged.

Philosophy has always been a reflection on horizons — on what it means to stand within a world of sense that both limits and enables our thought. In a time of global interdependence, technological acceleration, and ecological precarity, the notion of horizon once again demands attention: What are the conditions under which the future becomes thinkable?

This special issue seeks contributions that rethink the interplay between futurity, formation, and the human condition. The horizon is not merely an epistemic limit but also an existential orientation — an invitation to responsibility, imagination, and dialogue.

Following the 2026 Danish Philosophical Society Annual Meeting at VIA University College (Keynote presenters Prof. Yuk Hui, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Prof. Silja Graupe, Hochschule für Gesellschaftsgestaltung, Koblenz), the issue will include selected and invited papers presented at the conference.
